Scanner Connections

If your scanner exports open files, we can work with it. Here are the connection paths we support today - verified before they are listed.

Open-file scanners (STL / PLY / OBJ)

Medit, Aoralscan, Runyes, Launca, and any scanner with an open STL export: upload the files with your RX via WeTransfer, cloud link or email. This is the universal path - every scanner below also works through it.

3Shape (TRIOS / Unite)

Connect via 3Shape Communicate or Unite by adding Istar Dental Lab as a laboratory connection (search for "Istar" in the lab directory). Orders and files flow through the platform; you can also export STL and use the open-file route.

Medit

Connect through Medit Link by adding Istar as a partner - case files, chat and design returns all stay inside the platform.

iTero

iTero works via the open-export / alignment route: export the case data your iTero account allows and send it through our digital case channels. Tell us your scanner model on the first case and we confirm the exact export path with you.

CEREC / Sirona-connect

Cerec cases come through Sirona Connect or open exports depending on your software version. Send us your version details and we confirm what works before the first order.

Before your first digital case

Send one test scan with a note about your scanner and software version. Our intake team verifies margins, articulation and export quality, and confirms the workflow back to you in writing. Five minutes of setup avoids a week of friction.

If it exports open STL/PLY/OBJ, yes. Send a test scan and we will verify it before your first real case.

Do you charge for a test scan review?

No - test scan verification is free, and the confirmation you receive tells you exactly what works and what to include in future prescriptions.
